Nuanzhi Zheng 郑暖之 (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist who works with themes of feminism, existentialism, race and queer theory. She lives in Tāmaki Makaurau and is a Shanghai gal in her bones. Her most recent plays include Evening! with Jimmy Applause and the co-written Yang/Young/杨.

“The cover was a result of some wacky experimentation with some shells and a scanner, which ended up looking very brain-in-a-glass-jar. I often like to play with text in my artwork (once a teacher told me I could have a career in comedy and I'll never forget it!). This text was an excerpt/edit from a poem I was trying to write, which I took out because it sounded so earnestly unsettling, too much for the poem. But not too much for this brain-in-a-glass-jar!!”
